About Pickles

Hello.
I’m Pickles.

I’m a dog.
I live in the middle of human homes, human expectations, and human worry.

I spend a lot of time watching.

Why This Site Exists

Most advice about dogs tells humans what to do.

Sit.
Stay.
Train.
Fix.

Very little of it explains what things feel like from my side.

This site exists to translate.

Not to turn dogs into people.
Not to turn humans into trainers.

Just to slow things down enough that you can see what your dog is experiencing while you’re busy trying to do everything right.

What Pickles Notices

I notice:

  • how quickly humans move
  • how often do voices change when worry shows up
  • how pressure sneaks in without anyone meaning it to
  • how dogs communicate long before behaviour escalates

I notice that most dogs aren’t “being difficult”.

They’re coping.

What Pickles Is (And Isn’t)

I’m not here to train dogs to comply.
I’m here to help humans notice.

I don’t shout.
I don’t lecture.
I don’t chase trends.

I don’t believe dogs need fixing.

I believe they need understanding, predictability, and emotional safety.

Who This Is For

This space is for you if:

  • you’ve ever whispered “what have I done” at 3am
  • you love your dog but feel overwhelmed
  • you’re tired of advice that makes you feel like you’re failing
  • you want to understand behaviour instead of fighting it

You don’t need to be perfect to be here.
You just need to care.

How Pickles Sees Dogs

Dogs experience the world through:

  • smell
  • movement
  • proximity
  • patterns
  • emotional safety

Behaviour is communication.
Not obedience.
Not defiance.

When you change how the world feels to a dog, behaviour changes quietly on its own.

What You’ll Find Here

You’ll find:

  • gentle explanations of common worries
  • reassurance during hard phases
  • practical insights that don’t rely on control
  • reminders that most things pass

No gimmicks.
No judgement.
No pressure.

Just a calm presence sitting next to you, noticing something real and saying it simply.

One Last Thing

If you’re here because you’re worried about your dog, that already tells me something important about you.

You’re paying attention.

That’s usually where everything starts to get better.

I’ll sit with you while it does.
